Is it not almost uniformly laxity and lukewarmness, with very little heart for Christ? Yet what our blessed ... mai multLord most craves for, (I write with all reverence) is surely the heart affection of His beloved saints. There may be much scriptural knowledge, combined with great zeal for work; but nothing can take the place of deep heart affection: “My son, give Me thine heart” (Proverbs 23:26).
