O dată pe an milioane de creştini îşi amintesc de naşterea lui Isus Hristos. În servicii religioase şi prelegeri de Crăciun se citează un verset din prorocul Isaia, care a fost scris cu aproximativ 700 de ani înainte de naşterea lui Hristos – călăuzit prin Duhul Sfânt (2 Petru 1.21):
Isaia 9.6: Pentru că un Copil ni S-a născut, un Fiu ni S-a dat, şi domnia va fi pe umărul Lui; şi-I vor pune numele: Minunat, Sfetnic, Dumnezeu puternic, Părinte al eternităţii, Domn al păcii.
Aproape nimeni nu se întreabă, în ce context stă acest verset. Pe cine are profetul în vedere? Despre cine este vorba, când acolo se spune: „un Copil ni S-a născut”? Ce fel de domnie este aceasta? De ce acest Copil este numit şi „Fiu”? Să ne preocupăm mai îndeaproape cu aceste întrebări. Probabil vom fi surprinşi, că noi creştinii nu suntem adresaţii principali ai acestor versete.
